New Opposition Publication in Circulation

Güines, March 11, 2003 (www.cubanet.org) - With great success, a new opposition publication Río Arriba: La Voz Libre de Mayabeque (Upstream: The Free Voice of Mayabeque), edited by members of the independent civil society in Havana Province, is circulating in several Cuban Provinces.

The publication’s Editorial Board is composed of Engineer Miguel Galbán and Messrs. José U. Izquierdo and José Orta Acosta, Director, Editor and Advisor respectively, with its main address in the Municipality of Güines, south of the Cuban capital.

The publication, consisting of 8 pages and on a monthly basis, has published already four issues. Its principal aim is to reflect in its pages the social, political and cultural life of Havana Province, an area consisting of 19 Municipalities with deep historic roots.
