Havana, October 25, 2003 (www.cubanet.org) - The authorities of Agüica Penal Center, disallowed the visit due on October 21 to conscience prisoner Miguel Galbán without giving any reason to his relatives. “We think it was due to the hunger strike my brother is engaged in for the last 12 days, but really we do not know what is happening,” Teresa Galbán said.

Galbán was also not permitted to make the ten minutes monthly telephone call, being able to make it only once in almost seven months of incarceration. “The last news we had from him was the request he made to the international community to be presented to the ‘Ibero-American Summit’ signed by all political prisoners of Agüica” the sister of the opponent added, who finished stating that her brother's health was precarious and that his life was in danger.

Miguel Galbán, 38 years old, was Vice-Director of the National Center for Labor and Union Training and also an independent journalist and is serving a 26 years sentence in solitary confinement without electricity or water.
