We include herein a list in chronological order, (probably incomplete) of the more important publications issued in Güines and in exile, from its beginning to the present. (We include a free translation of the publication’s name, after its name in Spanish)

Colonial Era
1862   Álbum Güinero Güines Album

Álbum Güinero (1862). Bi-weekly, containing articles of scientific, literary, agricultural and other nature, directed in its first period by Francisco Calcagno y Monzón and in 1863 by Fernando Pie y Faura with the collaboration of Anselmo Suárez Romero, Lutgarda Mirabal and José Ignacio Rodríguez. It is considered the first publication of Güines.

1864   La Antilla The Antilles

Bi-weekly, including literary, commercial and economic articles from Comas and Petit.

1868   La Crónica The Chronicle

Literary, agricultural and economic matters. Published by Benito de Haro, a native of Santander, Spain.

1869   Joven América Young America

Liberal bi-weekly.
