XXI Century - Communist Era
(2001 to Date)

At the dawn of the XXI Century of the Christian era, the economic, political and social situation in Cuba and in Güines is going from bad to worse. The people, resigned and afraid, are precariously hoping for a liberation that does not arrive. The tyrant, decrepit and old, babbles the same phrases and slogans with which he has fooled the people of Cuba for more than half a century, while him and his inner group, do not let go off power and enjoy all goods and comforts that the people so desperately needs and lacks. His brother Raśl has taken control of the Government in a political farce, without elections or popular will, after the physical deterioration of the tyrant, already at the end of his life.

The exodus has continued without interruption and Cubans kept constantly getting out and going to lands of freedom. In beloved Güines, the people wait. Life goes on.

In 2000 Father Silvano Pedroso Montalvo was appointed as proprietary Parish Priest of Güines until September, 2004. He was replaced by Father René Ruiz Reyes, as proprietary Parish Priest of Güines during the same month of September 2004.

In exile, Güineros continue their progress, building futures, creating families, businesses and enterprises, always hoping to return to their native soil. The institutions from Güines are active, performing very intense social functions, grouping Güineros, celebrating patriotic, cultural, civic and other kind of activities, publishing magazines updating Güinero and Cuban happenings, keeping informed and united the majority of people from Güines, helping the new arrivals, fighting the lies of the Cuban Communist regime, in brief, being in constant and dynamic activity.

On closing this article, we pray to God that He may fulfill the longings of all Cubans, that our country will be free, that peace and harmony will reign among us and that, as a Phoenix bird raising from the ashes of this dark and gloomy period of our history, a new free and democratic Cuba will emerge, conceived in the ideals of our Apostle:—“With all and for the good of all.”
